No Atrophy in 2010 – Part 1

Atrophy is the partial or complete wasting away of a part of the body. Causes of atrophy include poornourishment, poor circulation, disuse or lack of exercise or disease intrinsic to the tissue itself.
We think of atrophy in terms of physical atrophy. Exercise the body, feed it right and take precautions to prevent disease and atrophy, absent the normal wear and tear on the body as we get older, is kept at arm’s length.
But what about the mind? What about the soul?
The challenge in 2010 for many men in the Band of Brothers network will be primal and it will be this – love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all your strength.
That requires discipline. That requires exercise. That is what God calls us to do to carry out His Great and Primal Commandment.
As Mark Batterson notes in his new book called Primal - ” if you fail to use your mind, it atrophies. And when the mind atrophies, the soul shrivels.”
That is known as disuse syndrome in physiology.
You either use it or lose it.
We raise the challenge to you in 2010 – will you exercise you mind, your soul, your strength and your heart on a regular basis?
One step in this is to join together with many men in the Band of Brothers Network and read through the Bible in a year. There are many online one year Bible services available to you. There are many written one year Bible plans that you can print out and follow. Here are just a few. Will you join in this challenge?

1 Corinthians 9:24-27: Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
Let the exercising begin!

I want to start a Band of Brothers in St. Joseph, MO or a Primal
bible study group. Any ideas?
I have found this website through lutheranhourmen.org
I appreciate the content and any feedback,
