Tenacity

Tenacity can be seen in a rock climber who methodically moves up a wall.. hanging on even in the toughest pitches of the climb.

But spiritual tenacity is more than just hanging on… far more than that.

Oswald Chambers says it well when proclaims ” Tenacity is more than endurance… it is endurance combined with the absolute certainty that what we are looking for is going to transpire.” It is a supreme effort of a follower of Jesus Christ refusing to believe that his hero will ever be conquered… that He will not win out in the end.

We know how the story ends… and that is why we fight for our King with spiritual tenacity… not just to hang on and do nothing, but to work deliberately on the delivery of the Good News that will never be overcome.

We are called to steward our families, our workplaces and our communities with a bulldog spiritual tenacity that is as 1 Peter 3:15 says ” But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…”
